VICKY MCGONIGLE FOR HIGH RIVER COUNCIL
Let's Shape the Future of High River with your voice
ABOUT VICKY
Putting the Public Back in Charge
I'm Vicky McGonigle, and I care about serving our community. Your support is crucial for the vision of the best High River. I am running for Council to work for you and with you, to build a stronger community that listens to the people.
I believe in transparency, accountability, and responsible decision-making. By electing me, you're choosing a dedicated advocate for the interests of High River residents. Your Council should represent you. This is not about my agenda, but about your needs and wishes for the future of High River. My only agenda is to ensure that High River is properly run, open to the public, and a welcoming community, where everyone matters.
My most relied on guide is “fairness”.
A decision must be fair to be supportable. For a decision to be fair it must be made
-
in the open,
-
with as much information as can be gleaned from the people of the community, and
-
by carefully balancing fiscal responsibility with the health and best outcomes for High River.
My first real involvement with High River was as a volunteer during the 2013 flood recovery. That is when I fell in love with this community. As a volunteer for Sears at the Nanton Community Centre I spent 10 days cooking and serving burgers, hotdogs, water and toy bears (!) to High Riverites stranded, with nothing much but what they could carry with them. You probably remember how hot those days were after the flood, and how little shade there was for residents waiting, and waiting, to return home.
What I saw in those days was a community of people who were
-
kind to each other,
-
caring and polite beyond all expectations.
In my ten days out in the heat at Nanton, with half of High River, I did not hear a single cross or grumpy word, not a single complaint, not a single argument.
I understood then how wonderful and truly special the community of High River was. This community is the very definition of “Grace Under Pressure” and I am most proud to say it is now my home and proud to call all of you my neighbours.
